Description of Significance FINISHED IN 1916, THE CHECOTAH CITY HALL REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT STAGE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR THIS SMALL COMMUNITY. THIS WAS THE FIRST CITY HALL BUILDING, CONSOLIDATING CITY SERVICES AND ADMINISTRATION WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY UTILIZED SEPARATE, OFTEN INADEQUATE, LEASED FACILITIES. THE CITY HALL IS A TWO-STORY FLAT ROOFED COMMERCIAL STYLE BUILDING. THE BUILDING IS CLAD IN RED BRICK IN A RUNNING BOND PATTERN. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 6/26/1998.
